EGR Bypass

and 3-stage Carbon Cleaning Service

EGR Valve Explained: The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve helps reduce vehicle emissions by recirculating a portion of the exhaust gases back into the engine via the air intake system. However, these gases contain carbon deposits, leading to a build-up in the intake manifold, EGR valve, and other components over time. This accumulation can cause the EGR valve to malfunction leading to:-

  1. Reduced fuel consumption
  2. Lack of performance
  3. Reduced throttle response
  4. Limp Mode and Engine Management warning lights

EGR bypassing is a form of remapping (programming the vehicle's onboard computer) for overcoming the problems associated with using an EGR by effectively disabling its functionality. When this is performed, the vehicle will run without any EGR faults, and it'll reduce the build-up of carbon deposits.

Benefits of bypassing the EGR Valve:

  1. Lower engine temperatures
  2. Improves throttle response
  3. Improves fuel economy
  4. Reduces oil contamination
  5. Slow down the carbon build-up in the engine

Benefits of bypassing the EGR Valve:

There are none on the engine, it is purely an emission component. The EGR's sole purpose is to reduce NOx emissions. This is performed by recirculating exhaust gases back in the cylinders, as these gases are already spent it reduces the amount of oxygen in the air used in the following combustion cycles, a lower percentage of oxygen means a lower combustion temperature and therefore less NOx is produced. Disclaimer: NOx is not currently measured on UK's MOT tests so an otherwise healthy vehicle as per manufacturer specification will currently pass an MOT emissions test. However, it should be noted that The UK's Road Traffic Act requires that vehicles on public roads be in a roadworthy condition. Removing or modifying any part of emission control systems, including the EGR system, may render your vehicle unroadworthy and could result in penalties. By requesting this removal service you confirm that you understand that the vehicle should not be used on the road anywhere where it would be illegal to do so. UKCC Auto Techs accepts no responsibility for the use of this service on the public highway where removal of emission controls is prohibited.

Faq

An average of 60-90 minutes but we recommend allowing for 2 hours.

Unlike just a clean which is not guaranteed to resolve an EGR fault as long as your vehicle only has EGR faults and there are no other associated issues then your vehicle's engine will run perfectly immediately after the EGR bypass and engine carbon clean service.

As with any form of remap file writing, there is always a tiny risk of failure which can lead to difficulties but these can always be recovered. The question shouldn’t be if there are risks but if there was a problem how is it handled? You’ll be pleased to know all our technicians are highly skilled and trained using only the best equipment to protect your vehicle from the risks of damage during the ECU remapping process. Saying that we would not take any risks with your vehicle so for peace of mind UKCC Auto Techs guarantees you that all our technicians are fully insured.

Certainly not. We are a worldwide brand with CE-marked machines, operating in over 50 countries with 100’s of machines being used daily – never has there been an engine damaged from our engine carbon cleaning process. No competitor can give you peace of mind on that scale.

Yes. If you’ve been told or heard differently elsewhere you’re unfortunately been lied to. The good news is this only applies to manufacturer warranties (third-party warranties won’t be affected). Manufacturers make painstaking efforts to clearly state that unapproved modifications to any components will void their warranty so if your vehicle has a manufacturer warranty then you should think twice before having such a service performed on the vehicle.

Yes, because this is just a software fix it would be a simple process of installing the original file on the ECU. We permanently retain your original file just in case you ever require us to reverse the process.
