3-stage Carbon Cleaning

This service is based on stage-1 Hydrogen cleaning but also utilises our unique chemicals for a more in-depth cleaning. It also dries out the moisture (mainly oily residues) which restricts the Intake Valves so that the Hydrogen cleaning can be more effective. This is then topped off with the inclusion of our proprietary injector cleaner to ensure a cleaner combustion thus slowing down the risk of further carbon build up causing repeat clogging.

Recommended for: Vehicles that are suspected of already having carbon build up on the Intake Valves causing symptoms such as Limp mode (restricted performance) or loss of power, excessive smoke or related engine management warning lights.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS SERVICE IS NOT GUARANTEED TO RESOLVE A VEHICLE WITH DIRTY INTAKE VALVES THAT HAS MISFIRE ISSUES.

Want to Avoid Engine Damage Caused by Carbon on the Intake Valves?

Carbon Cleaning is your best option

Why do Intake Valves get dirty?

dirty intake valve

Current engine design incorporates a technique called ‘Direct Injection’ where rather than mixing the fuel and air in the intake ports under low pressure the fuel is injected under high pressure into the chamber which mixes with the air as it enters. The advantages of this are better fuel economy, efficiency and performance. However, the disadvantage is that the fuel completely bypasses the intake ports and therefore doesn’t clean the valves. When you take into consideration the inclusion of the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system which increases the amount of unspent fuel, oil and other deposits entering the intake ports it’s no wonder the valves get dirty.

Any vehicle that has carbon build-up on the valves may or may not experience engine management warnings and diagnostic codes. The first signs will likely be a slight and gradual reduction in performance and mpg.

Cleaning your valves

There are numerous ways to clean or replace the Valves with varying prices.

The costliest option is to manually clean them. Most mechanics will recommend this – Why? Because they’ll earn well from the extensive hours it takes to complete the job. The price will be dependent on labour rates but for example for a V6 engine expect to pay anywhere for £400 – £600.

Depending on the level of service chosen our engine carbon cleaning service takes a total of 45-60 minutes.

Carbon cleaning is not as such a fix, its original purpose is cleaning as a preventative measure as carbon build-up is the root cause of 85% of the failure of components. If your vehicle is experiencing misfires that are caused by the intake valves not seating correctly due to carbon it is unlikely a non-intrusive clean such as our service is going to resolve the problem, it has probably gone too far and will require the head being taken off so a manual or media/walnut blast clean can be performed to fully clean the valves.
If an intrusive clean is required once completed and the vehicle is no longer misfiring to then ensure full engine efficiency and slow down the return of carbon buildup on the valves we would then recommend an immediate 3-stage carbon clean and further follow-up carbon cleans once every 12,000 miles for preventative maintenance.

You cannot clean too much but we recommend preventative cleaning once a year, or every 10-12,000 miles – just like a regular oil change but for the air and fuel side of your engine - little and often is the key and as the saying goes… ‘An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Certainly not. We are a worldwide brand with CE marked machines, operating in over 50 countries with 100’s of machines being used daily – never has there been an engine damaged from our engine carbon cleaning process.

We would not take any risks with your vehicle, so for piece of mind UKCC Auto Techs guarantee to you that all our technicians are trained to the highest standards and are independently fully insured.
